Special (Non-Working) Day in some parts of the Philippines on September 21, 2017
Muslims around the world will celebrate Amon Jadid (Amun Jadeed) or Islamic New Year on Muharram 1, 1439 Hijrah Calendar, which falls on September 21, 2017 (Thursday).
In the Philippines, Amon Jadid is declared as a special non-working holiday in some parts of the Philippines by virtue of Article 169 of Presidential Decree No. 1083 (code of Muslim Personal Laws in the Philippines) dated February 4, 1977.
Article 170 of the said Presidential Decree states:
Muslim Holidays shall be officially observed in the Provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and in the Cities of Cotabato, Iligan, Marawi, Pagadian, and Zamboanga and in such other Muslim provinces and cities as may hereafter be created.
Article 172 of the same P.D.
All Muslim government officials and employees in the places other than those enumerated shall also be excused from reporting to the office in order that they may observe the said Muslim holiday.

Proclamation No. 776 (S. 1991) declares every Friday immediately preceding the third Sunday of the month of September of every year as special day in the City of Naga, in commemoration of the Feast of Our Lady of Peñafrancia;
The date of the Peñafrancia Festival was moved to the Sunday following the octave of the Feast of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary; and,
The Office of the Mayor requested that every Friday immediately preceding the Peñafrancia Festival be declared as a special day in the City of Naga, to strengthen the cultural and religious values of Nagueños.
